I Hunger and Thirst

I'm excited to announce the recent release of I Hunger and Thirst on G. Schirmer's 'Dale Warland Choral Series.' This new Shaker song arrangement for SATB choir and soprano solo was written in 2014 for performance at the Maine Festival of American Music, which is held annually at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village.

I Hunger and Thirst is one of my favorite Shaker songs. I first came across it on the "Early Shaker Spirituals" recording, a wonderful album originally released in 1976 of the Sabbathday Lake Shakers singing their own music. My arrangement is based on the singing of the song by Sister R. Mildred Barker on the recording.
